Clinical Education Coordinator

Job Title: Clinical Education Coordinator

Location: Johnson County Hospital

Department: Nursing/Patient Care

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer


Position Summary:

Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical education and training programs across the hospital. This role ensures staff maintain required certifications, advance their skills, and consistently deliver safe, evidence-based, high-quality patient care. The coordinator also develops policies, procedures, and educational resources to support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Hospital-Wide Staff Education & Competency

  • Plan, implement, and coordinate training and continuing education programs for nursing and clinical support staff.
  • Organize and conduct certification and recertification courses including ACLS, PALS, BLS Provider, and other competencies as assigned.
  • Ensure all hospital staff maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and licensing standards.
  • Review and update organizational policies to reflect current standards of practice. Develop and draft new policies and procedures, as needed, to support education, compliance, and patient safety.

Case Review & Quality Improvement

  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary case reviews to identify clinical improvement opportunities.
  • Support process improvement initiatives such as Sepsis, Stroke, and Cardiac protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee EMS QA/QI initiatives, including chart reviews, compliance tracking, and monitoring of expanded scope processes.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Director to monitor patient outcomes and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical workflows.

Training on New Equipment & Clinical Processes

  • Develop and deliver education for new medical equipment, updated technologies, and revised clinical protocols.
  • Conduct staff competency assessments and maintain training records.

Ongoing Education & Orientation

  • Create and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual education briefings, memos, and skill review schedules.
  • Coordinate with nursing and EMS supervisors on new employee orientation and onboarding programs for clinical staff.
  • Maintain a calendar of hospital-wide skills checks, workshops, and drills.

Resource & Equipment Oversight

  • Maintain training supplies and equipment.
  • Identify needs for replacement or new purchases to support ongoing education programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Licensed Paramedic and/or Registered Nurse (Nebraska or ability to obtain).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive clinical experience, with at least 2 years in education, staff development, or a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical training, staff development, and quality improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital operations, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent education, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ePCR systems, and learning management systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's Preferred).
